Subject Alert

Do you need the latest information from the journal literature on a particular topic? Are you involved in a subject area where you are required to keep up-to-date with current trends?

If you have a recurring need for information on a specific topic, the Education Resource Centre for Continuing Care can assist you by setting up a SUBJECT ALERT. This service, also known as SDI or Selective Dissemination of Information, is a personalized current awareness service for clinicians and researchers.

The Subject Alert is tailored to your needs. It is set up to run on a relevant database (e.g. CINAHL or MEDLINE) over a specified period of time. You can expect e-mail messages with the citations of the latest journal articles on your topic or area of interest.

You can initiate a Subject Alert by calling 1-800-432-1845 (303-6088 in Calgary). We will then review your request with you and identify a database suitable to your subject. Once an effective search strategy has been developed, it will be saved. Each time new citations are added to the selected database, your search profile will be run and current articles on your topic will be identified.
